What is Digital Marketing?
Let’s say it’s marketing on a digital platform. Which are the digital platforms that allow us to advertise? So far in 2016 major mode of digital marketing came from Internet & Smartphones.

Digital Marketing has a bunch of skills which an individual needs to learn and practice to achieve a high result.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) – As the name suggests it is all about optimizing the websites or pages according to search engines. Few Search Engines like google.com & bing.com are very popular and can bring massive traffic to your website, which is why it’s better to start optimizing your website for Google and Bing.
SEO has many parameters as per the search engine requirement which needs to be implemented on the pages or the blogs/websites which you will read about on our successive articles.
SEO is mainly divided into two main activities:
- On-page SEO
- Off-page SEO
On-page SEO is done by implementation of certain sets of tags and codes on the source code of the web pages depending upon the language used e.g. Html, PHP or Word press. Learn more about types of website here. Eventually, you have to understand what needs to be implemented on the pages and then you can do it yourself or a web developer can do it for you.
Off-page SEO is done by backlinking and content marketing.
Search Engine Marketing (SEM) is marketing of display ads and text ads on search engines. The biggest examples are Google Adwords and Bing Ads.
Social Media Marketing (SMM) similar to search engine marketing is marketing of display ads and text on social media platform. For E.g. the Facebook Ads and LinkedIn Ads that you see while you are logged into your profile page.

By understanding how social media works, we can drive audience on our fan page and eventually on our website or blog. We can know where they are active by learning about the social media platform. In short, digital marketing depends more on content marketing and how you understand search engines and social media platforms. The ability to master both can achieve astonishing result and you can achieve great results generating more users into your website thus converting them into your customers/readers in my case.
